Sold, Downsizing, but Now What Do We Do with the Stuff?

Canard Solutions (CanSol) was contacted by a family which had lived in the same home for 55 years in leafy inner-Eastern North Balwyn. The property had been sold, and settlement was due in two weeks. Whilst the family had planned an orderly downsizing, the size of the task was overwhelming, and time had run out.

Using family resources, key pieces had already been moved to the new downsized apartment, but there was still a huge task to be undertaken.

Antique furniture to be dissembled, moved, and relocated. Family heirlooms to be dispersed, and even chandeliers to be relocated. On top of this, the under house garage and storage area was so full it was difficult to even identify items of value (sound familiar?)

CanSol committed a team of seven packers and movers to the task, and over three intense days of action, the property was cleaned and ready to be presented to the new purchaser in a state of vacant possession.

All items of value had either been moved to the downsized apartment, other family homes, or consigned to sale venues for realisation. Useable, but not saleable goods, were consigned for donation (including fridges and other whitegoods) and, where necessary, the remaining goods were removed by skip.

Although a stressful period for all – leaving a home after 55 years is an emotional event for everyone, the project was completed on time and to the satisfaction of the entire family.

Another successful project.
